10 year old, completely Blind gelding. Can be a bit skidish till he trusts you. Bella is his "seeing eye" horse.
Needs grooming a lot due to laying down in mud ALOT on purpose. He can't tell day from night. Loves treats and attention!
Financial needs include his occasional eye flare-ups in summer and the meds are quit costly. Eye masks, joint supplement. Routine vet care. In need of new flex fencing so he can "bump" into it.
Has been doing good. He's fat and happy with no flare ups this past summer, which is awesome, but may also mean his 98% gone vision is now 100%. We've seen him walk into the fences he's been in for a couple years and our plans to expand the paddock are now cancelled. We think ANY change in his environment could make things worst and we don't want him confused and lost in his own home. But otherwise he has Bella and his best bud Dash with him, so he has company in his lonely dark world.
19 year old, walking pony mare. Retired from kids, grumpy and needs someone to tend her extra long mane! Braiding skills highly desired... and treats.
Financial needs include front shoes for past white line disease issues. Joint supplement and routine vet care. Misty has cushings as well and the pills are costly.
Misty has had some backwards progress. She came up severely lame as her Cushing's flared up this fall then when x-rayed we found rotation in the front hooves. She spend 30 days on aggressive bute therapy and stall rest. She is now off that and we are watching her. We were pretty sure she was at the end of her days but the old girl has the will to live. Unfortunately after winter she will have to be on dry lot only. Her days of lush green pastures are over, which is common for small ponies and minis with laminitis. But she is comfortable and sassy again and needs a volunteer to come out and braid that dang long mane of hers!
SPONSOR MISTY MOO
18 year old, half blind draft mare. One eye is completely blind and she's huge but very careful with people. She white and sheds like crazy.. needs lots of brushing. Financial needs include arthritic in hindquarters, needs double dose joint supplements for her size.
Update: Winter has been diagnosed with DSLD, Degenerate Suspensory Ligament Disease. Basically her hind legs are slowly giving out. She is unridable.
Is doing the same. Her back hocks continue to fall and she manages but the future is not promising for her. She will have to be put down in the near future to prevent any kind of more damage or pain to the poor old girl. We are deeply sadden by this as she is a mascot here at RR and Randy's first riding horse. We will let everyone know how this progresses.
Bella, plus one!
11 year old, mini mare. Bella came to us in July after her owner got sick and couldn't care for her anymore. Bella was confirmed pregnant in Feb 2018... and she was not suppose to be. We luckily were able to catch her pregnancy towards the end and get her all vaccinated and boosted before Lunar Dash was born on 4/30/2018. Dash is a happy and healthy stud colt, that will need to be gelded as well in the future.
We are coming to the time of mister Dash's weaning from mommy and then his gelding in the spring. Dash will stay with Snoopy , who he adores....and Bella will join the mare herd for the winter since the grass is dead. She'll return to the dry lot with the boys or to another new dry lot to be with Misty before spring grass to prevent any kind of laminitis issues known to minis. We are thinking the weaning will be easy as Dash prefers Snoopy over Bella and Bella is over being a mom! Fingers crossed.
SPONSER BELLA and Dash
Sterling is a 12 yr old TB gelding and a well
known past Stakes Winner at Arlington Race
Track till 2013. Sweet gelding, who is well broke,
owner contacted RR after many costly issues
popped up between weight loss, sore front feet
and chips in his front right knee. She wanted him
to get the care he needs asap. We are working
with our vet and farrier team closely to see what
can be done to maybe save his pleasure riding
abilities. Standing 17.3 he's now the tallest
horse at the stables, between Winter who's 17.2.
Please DONATE to save this LEGEND.
His xrays were clean minus a couple non-moving microscopic chips in the knee area that doesn't infer with his movement, but he was still limping. We had him shoed and adjusted via chiropractor and still Not able to find exactly what is wrong, the vet suggested we put him on previcox for 30 days and then test him under saddle to see if this will be a daily arthritis thing or if he'll be sound with out. He really doesn't show any lameness out in field or lunging or even pain with a rider, he's just kind of off. (drops his right shoulder) He is shoed on the front, the old abscesses are blown out and gone, so not that. He was xrayed from top to bottom showing nothing. But after further testing with a rider this week, he goes straight back into limping. At this point we are ruling him un-ridable and pasture pet only. He is pasture sound and pain free on his own, just can't carry the weight of a rider without limping. We are sad with this news and had great hopes of a riding home for him. But either way, he will be loved.
Blue Ready For Adoption!!
Blue is a 22 yr old gelding that came to us in Sept. 9th, 2018. He's behind on vet stuff and underweight but otherwise healthy and sweet. He had his teeth sheath and all that done on Sept 21st and the vet said he's teeth are basically worn down. He's on a senior feed diet and he's made new friends already.
Blue has made remarkable progress! He's all cleaned up, trimmed, gained weight, chiro and vet have seen him and has been ridden a few times in kids lessons. He takes things in stride and has a few quirks but nothing crazy. He NEEDS someone of his own. He is SOO loving and first to come to you in pasture. He wants to be loved on. He is ready for adoption and I hope there's a child or petite lady out there looking for a great flashy gelding to love, even at his age of 22. He still has much love to give. Please pass the word!
